EMPHNET conducted a side event titled “Blended FETP: An Innovate Approach for Professional Training” in the Second International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPIHA) Kigali, Rwanda. The side event was held by GHD| EMPHNET’s Team virtually on December 18, 2022, and was attended by 20 participants from different countries, who were engaged in an interactive sessions and group exercises.
The main goal of this side event was to introduce the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) blended model which was developed for the Frontline (PHEP) and Intermediate FETPs. This model includes remote sessions that are complemented by interactive workshops. It also offers self-paced didactic material, while interactive workshops are preserved for the exercise, group projects, and case studies.
The side event further aimed to explain how to design effective eLearning sessions for professional training, and it also offered an opportunity to shed light on EMPHNET’s experience in developing the FETP blended model and instructor-led e-case studies.
Finally, the participants were introduced to the Learning Management System (LMS), and they were requested to fill in an evaluation form in which they reflected on the workshop’s lecture-based methods and its other interactive components.
